In the few years since they have been available, “Darling Clementines” have moved from being an exotic East Coast item to achieving widespread distribution across the U.S. Retailers have adopted a variety of creative merchandising techniques to familiarize consumers with Clementines, ranging from in-store samplings to print advertising, to sponsorship of local events. Some have arranged tie-ins with local TV and radio stations to showcase why “Darling Clementines” are the perfect fruit for kids. Others have offered special dollars-off promotions or bonus points on club cards to attract consumers.
